BAKERSFIELD, Calif.,- Sean Venedam and Mike Hofstrand picked up power play goals as the Bakersfield Condors picked up their third straight win over the San Diego Gulls with a 3-1 victory in front of 3,765 fans at Rabobank Arena.

Bakersfield opened scoring on their second power play of the night when Kevin St. Jacques tapped the puck to Sean Venedam. The Condor captain wound up and found an opening past the left skate of San Diego netminder Tom Lawson with 6:41 left in the first period. St. Jacques received the lone assist on Venedam's league-leading 15th power play goal of the season to give Bakersfield a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Gulls had their chances in the second period with nearly eight minutes of power play time in the middle frame. Bakersfield's penalty kill unit held San Diego to just five shots on goal on five second period power plays.

Early in the third period, Joel Irving brought the puck in toward the San Diego net on a four-on-four. Brian Collins trailed Irving and directed the puck toward Lawson's right pad. The rebound was chipped in by Reagan Leslie at the near post, giving the Condors a 2-0 lead.

Mike Hofstrand made it 3-0 on the power play as he positioned himself to take a cross-ice feed from Kevin Truelson. Scott Borders assisted as Hofstrand buried the puck over Lawson's left shoulder with 10:34 left in the game.

Steve Hildenbrand brought the Gulls to within two o a power play goal from Darren Clark and Jonathan Shockey late in the third, but the Condors' lead would hold as Bakersfield wrapped up the season series against San Diego with a three-game win streak over the Gulls.

Ryan Munce picked up the win stopping 19 of San Diego's 20 shots. Tom Lawson was credited with the loss despite making 35 saves on 38 Condor attempts.

Other notes: Kevin St. Jacques failed on a penalty shot attempt after getting brought down with a hook on a first period breakaway. It was St. Jacques' second penalty shot of the season.
