Condors Add Mehalko and Mirasty
October 11, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
After three days of training camp the Condors added to the roster with the acquisition of winger Brad Mehalko. The Condors acquired the rights to the 6th year forward from the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for cash considerations. RW Jon Mirasty also will join the team tomorrow after being sent down from his stay in the American Hockey League.
Mehalko, 27, played in 64 ECHL games last season with Fresno and Wheeling, totaling 17 goals and 45 points. He also added three points in five playoffs. Mehalko joined the team this weekend, skating at yesterday's Open House held at the Bakersfield Ice Center. The Enchant, Alberta native has scored 53 goals and 135 points in 232 career games in the American and International Leagues, as well as the ECHL and West Coast Hockey League, where he made his pro debut with the Tacoma Sabercats in 1998-99.
Mirasty joins the Condors after skating with the Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League for nearly two weeks. He played in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday night, scoring no points but going +1 with 45 penalty minutes. He received a one-game suspension for his actions in that game, and served it on Saturday night.
