Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (April 3, 2004) - The Trenton Titans of the ECHL were blanked by the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL 4-0 in a game that marked the first time that an American Hockey League team played an ECHL team.
Mark Murphy started the scoring with a power play goal at 8:27 of the first period assisted by Tony Voce and Freddie Meyer. Voce and Murphy would flip flop roles as the rookie out of Boston College added a goal of his own later in the first period to give the Phantoms a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Murphy and Voce would each finish the night with three points as they both assisted on Ben Eager's third period tally that made the score 4-0.
Neil Little and Chris Houle combined for the shutout making 9 and 11 saves respectively. Andrew Allen suffered the loss stopping 28 of 32 shots.
