Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliates of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on one-year contract with forward Ryan Kinasewich. Kinasewich arrived in Reading today and is expected to join the team for training camp tomorrow. The Hershey Bears reassigned right wing Cail MacLean to the Royals and Reading has signed forward Adam Kennel and goaltender Brian Gratz to player tryout agreements.
"Ryan is coming off two outstanding years in the Western Hockey League. We're excited to have him join our hockey club and expect him to contribute immediately," said Royals general manager Ray Delia.
Kinasewich, 21, enters his first professional season after spending five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Medicine Hat and Tri City. The Alberta native has steadily improved statistically over his major junior hockey career. In 2002-03, while with the Tri City Americans, he posted his most successful numbers (39-52=91). He also racked up a career high 87 penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward led his club to the WHL Western Conference Semifinals.
The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals.
