Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors Professional Hockey Club signed forward Alex Rogosheske and agreed to terms with rookie center Danny Stewart for the 2006-07 campaign, Head Coach Marty Raymond announced today.

The 25-year old Rogosheske begins his second professional season after spending last year with the San Diego Gulls. In 29 games with San Diego, the 6- foot, 198-pounder from St. Paul, Minn. posted three points (1g, 2a) and 42 penalty minutes. Rogosheske's season was cut short in early January after tearing his ACL. During his time on the shelf, however, Rogosheske made countless appearances in the San Diego community and was named the Gulls' Co-Community Player of the Year.

Before turning pro, Rogosheske played three years at Bowling Green University where he accumulated 22 points (8g, 14a) and 119 penalty minutes in 105 career games.

"We were certainly impressed with Alex when we played against him last year," Raymond said. "The details of his game are very-well executed and he's a jack of all trades. We were excited to jump on him when we found out San Diego wasn't coming back and know he will be an excellent fit with our team's chemistry. He was also highly recommended by Josh Liebenow, who had nothing but good things to say about Alex."

The 21-year-old Stewart will begin his professional career with the Condors after playing the last five years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 58 games last season for the Prince Edward Island Rockets, the 5-foot-11-inch, 188- pounder scored 67 points (29g, 38a), while racking up 74 penalty minutes.

Stewart, a native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, played for the Rimouski Oceanic the previous four years, where he recorded 174 total points (76g, 98a) and 365 penalty minutes. During his tenure with Rimouski, Stewart was teammates with NHL star Sidney Crosby (2003-04 and 2004-05) and Eric Nielson (2001-02 through 2004-05). He was a fourth round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

"Danny is a great centerman with great vision and good hands," Raymond said. "He was highly recommended by Eric Neilson and we're excited to have him in Bakersfield this season. Danny is a great young prospect with an outstanding attitude and a lot of potential."

Rogosheske and Stewart are the 11th and 12th players signed for the 2006-07 season. They join Andrew Ianiero, Scott Borders, Jamie Hodson, Mike Hofstrand, David Kudelka, Reagan Leslie, Josh Liebenow, Kevin St. Jacques, Kevin Truelson and Sean Vendeam.

The Condors open their 2006-07 regular season at Rabobank Arena Friday, Oct. 20 against the Stockton Thunder. For more information or to reserve season tickets, mini-plans and book group outings contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825). Season ticket packages start as low as $30
