Commemorative Petes Pink in the Rink Sweaters Unveiled
February 5, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - On Friday afternoon, fans on the free Petes Mobile App got a first look at the commemorative sweaters that will be worn at Saturday night's seventh annual Pink in the Rink hockey game.
Petes goalie and 2016 NHL Draft top prospect Dylan Wells, the campaign honourary co-chair representing the current decade of Petes players, was joined by captain Eric Cornel and assistant captain Hunter Garlent to model the uniforms. The sweaters, which will be worn during Saturday night's Pink in the Rink game against the East Division rival Ottawa 67's, feature a new pink design and hundreds of fan-submitted names of people who have fought, or continue to fight, cancer.
The game-worn sweaters will be available for purchase in a live auction hosted by Ruslands following the game on Saturday. 100% of the proceeds of the auction will support the Pink in the Rink campaign and the Canadian Cancer Society Peterborough & District Community Office. This year's fundraising goal is $85,000, which would bring the seven year total to $450,000 raised for cancer research and support services.
The Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame, located in the Peterborough Memorial Centre, has special display featuring every Pink in the Rink jersey. The Hall will be open on Saturday, February 6 from 6pm until the start of the game, and during the intermissions. The 2016 commemorative jersey will be included in the display on Saturday night.
A few tickets are still available for Saturday night's Pink in the Rink game against the 67's. The puck drops at 7:05pm, and seats can be reserved by visiting the PMC Collins Barrow Box Office online, in person, or by phoning (705) 743-3561.
