November 12, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Utica Comets News Release

The Utica Comets were shutout 3-0 by the Chicago Wolves at The AUD on Wednesday night. Despite outshooting the Wolves 30-19, the Comets suffered just their second regulation loss of the season.

Chicago's goaltender, Jordan Binnington stopped all 30 shots taken by the Comets and was also named first star of the game.

After a deadlocked first period, Ty Rattie scored Chicago's first goal of the game 6:55 into the second period. Following a neutral zone turnover by the Comets, Phillip McRae popped the puck up to Rattie who was waiting at the blue-line. Rattie entered the Comets zone all alone, after a quick deke, he backhanded it up and over Eriksson's for a break-away goal to make it 1-0. Pat Cannone was credited with the secondary assist.

The Wolves scored another goal on the tail end of the second period at 18:47 for their first of two power-play goals. As the Wolves were setting up on the attack, Petteri Lindbohm fed the puck to Shane Harper for a quick shot from Eriksson's right side. Following the shot, the Comets goaltender left a juicy re-bound giving Terry Broadhurst a wide-open net to bury the puck for the 2-0 lead.

For the final goal of the night, Cannone and Rattie both received another point just after Alexandre Grenier was sent to the box for a boarding call with just over four minutes left in the third period. After a couple feeds back in forth on the attack, Rattie passed the puck to Cannone who was waiting to rip a shot off between the hashmarks directly infront of Erikssson. The New York native, buried the shot low glove side for the Wolves second power-play goal to make it 3-0.

The Comets will look for retribution Friday night at The AUD against the same Chicago Wolves. Puck drop is set for 7pm, and tickets are already sold out.
