Comeback Carp Strike in Peoria

Beloit Sky Carp News Release
PEORIA - Things looked pretty bleak for the Beloit Sky Carp heading into the eighth inning of Wednesday's afternoon's game in Peoria.
The Sky Carp had just surrendered four runs in a disastrous bottom of the seventh and were staring a 5-1 deficit in the face.
But Beloit rose off the mat quickly, scoring three times in the eighth and four more in the ninth to defeat the Chiefs 8-5 for their second win in three games.
After Jacob Berry hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth to trim the deficit to 5-2, Jake Thompson hit his team-leading fifth homer of the season, a two-run blast to make it 5-4.
In the ninth, the Sky Carp loaded the bases with nobody out before a Khalil Watson single tied the game. Berry hit his second sac fly of the game to give Beloit a 6-5 lead, and Yiddi Cappe notched his fourth hit of the game, a two-run single to provide the final margin.
Gabe Bierman got the start for Beloit and was solid before getting into trouble in the aforementioned seventh inning. Bierman finished the game with 6.1 innings pitched and allowed four runs.
Caleb Wurster (3-1) picked up the win in relief, while Chandler Jozwiak pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his sixth save.
The Sky Carp and Chiefs will meet again Wednesday night in game two of their six-game series. The team will be back home Tuesday, June 13 to face the Quad Cities River Bandits.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
