Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

An early deficit was too much for the Tri-City Dust Devils (16-18) to overcome as the team lost 7-3 to the Eugene Emeralds (12-22) on Thursday night in the series opener. With four games remaining in the first half the Dust Devils are now two games back of Everett in the North Division.

Tri-City starting pitcher Sam Keating suffered the loss after allowing five runs in his 4.2 innings of work. A pair of relievers shined for the Dust Devils in the loss. Jonathan Guzman and Joe Galindo combined to retire ten straight Eugene batters, striking out eight of them. The team's pitching staff now has 315 strikeouts, which is tied with Everett for the most in the Northwest League.

Left-hander Omar Cruz will make his Tri-City debut on Friday night. Eugene will counter with right-hander Paul Richan. It will be Charlie Blackmon Bobblehead Giveaway Night presented by Gesa Credit Union and a $1 Family Feast Night courtesy of CO-Energy. Bobbleheads will be given away to the first 500 fans. Gates open will open at 6:15 pm. Tickets are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
