GREENVILLE, SC - The Winston-Salem Dash fell to the Greenville Drive Saturday night despite a late inning rally, 5-4, at Fluor Field in front of 4,905 fans.

Winston-Salem (21-9) took the early advantage in the top of the second inning on a Chris Lanzilli three-run homer to left center giving the Dash a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom half of the second, Greenville (14-17) wasted no time responding, taking the lead on a five-run inning. Miguel Ugueto cut the Dash lead to one on a two-run home, and later on Blaze Jordan doubled to right clearing the bases and putting the Drive ahead, 5-3.

Dash pitching locked down following the five spot. Jerry Burke took over on the mound for starter Andrew Dalquist and held the Drive bats silent. Burke got threw 2.1 innings allowing only one hit along the way before Kade Mechals replaced him in the fifth.

Mechals, making his High-A debut, followed Burke shutting down the Greenville lineup, tossing two innings of no-hit baseball, punching out two.

After Chase Plymell took over for Mechals in the seventh, the new arm worked a quick frame keeping it a 5-3 game heading into the final two innings.

In the eighth, Winston-Salem showed signs of life. Terrell Tatum walked to lead off the inning, and would come into score thanks to a Wilfred Veras RBI double making it a 5-4 game.

Trailing only by one, Plymell stranded two runners in the eighth, but in the ninth, Winston-Salem went down quietly, dropping game five against the Drive, 5-4.

With the loss, Winston-Salem now leads the series 3-2. Lanzilli's home run in the second was his first long ball in his High-A career while the Dash bullpen combined for 6.1 innings of one-hit baseball.

The Dash try to take the series again on Sunday in game six against Greenville. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. from Fluor Field.
