MONTGOMERY, AL - The Biloxi Shuckers (31-32) came within one run twice but stranded the tying run on second in the ninth and the Montgomery Biscuits (32-31) held on for a 6-5 win in the series finale, earning the series win. The loss was the fourth straight for Biloxi and marked their first series loss against a South Division opponent in 2023.

Shuckers' starter Christian Mejias started the game strong after earning the win in the series opener on Tuesday. He struck out three over three scoreless innings, facing one batter over the minimum.

The Shuckers threatened in the second, using three straight singles, but Zavier Warren was thrown out at home trying to score off Ethan Murray's single to left. In the third, Tyler Black reached on a walk and stole second, tying Corey Ray for the second-most in a single season in Shuckers' franchise history.

The game remained scoreless into the fourth when Junior Caminero led off the inning with a double. The next batter, Austin Shenton, launched a two-run home run, giving the Biscuits a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth, Biloxi struck back with a single from Isaac Collins and a walk to Jackson Chourio. Black then lined a double to left that scored Collins, making it 2-1. Noah Campbell then tied the game with an RBI groundout, and Wes Clarke gave the Shuckers a 3-2 lead with a sacrifice fly to center. In the bottom of the inning, Caminero drove in Mason Auer with a single to tie the game at three. Then, Shenton smashed his second home run of the day, a two-run shot, giving the Biscuits a 5-3 lead.

The Shuckers struck back in the eighth with a solo shot from Wes Clarke, his seventh of the year. The Biscuits, however, answered the next half-inning with an RBI single from Logan Driscoll. In the ninth, Biloxi threatened with two outs thanks to a walk from Chourio and a single from Black that pushed him to third. The Shuckers came within one for the second straight inning when a wild pitch scored Chourio. Biscuits' reliever Nelson Alvarez, however, struck out Noah Campbell with a curveball to end the game and earned his first Double-A save.

John Doxakis (3-2) earned the win for Montgomery while Christian Mejias (4-4) took the loss for Biloxi.

After an off day on Monday, the Shuckers begin a 12-game homestand on Tuesday, starting with six against the Chattanooga Lookouts. Biloxi opens the home stand with a Summer Camp Themed T-Shirt Giveaway presented by Coca-Cola for the first 250 fans. It's also Brew Crew Tuesday presented by F.E.B Distributing. Fans can purchase a 20oz souvenir tumbler for $12 with $6 refills at the first and third-base Beer Gardens.
