5 Things to Know about #COLvDAL

Sharing the Wealth

Forward Franco Jara and defender Ryan Hollingshead became the sixth and seventh new goal scorers for FC Dallas this season after both found the net in a draw against Real Salt Lake on May 22. Dallas is second in MLS for its number of goal scorers, just behind the Portland Timbers with eight. FCD's other goal scorers are Andrés Ricaurte, Bressan, Jader Obrian, Ricardo Pepi and Dante Sealy. Dallas' record for most goal scorers in a season is 17 and the overall MLS record is 18 (achieved by both the NY Red Bulls and DC United).

A Tale of Two 'Keepers

FC Dallas' Phelipe and Colorado Rapids' William Yarbrough are the only two goalkeepers in MLS to have registered an assist this season. Phelipe notched his assist in FCD's 4-1 win over Portland on May 1 when he found Jáder Obrian with a 50-yard punt that beat the entire Portland backline and put the Colombian through on goal.

Flyin' Ryan

Defender Ryan Hollingshead scored his first goal of the season in Dallas' 2-2 draw with Real Salt Lake on May 22, a goal that earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Week. Since Luchi Gonzalez became head coach in 2019, the 30-year-old utility man has proven to be a vital attacking outlet, contributing 11 goals and five assists.

Against Colorado Rapids

FC Dallas' all-time regular season record against Colorado is 34-24-18 with 117 goals for and 93 against. Dallas' all-time away record against the Rapids is 9-16-11 (46 goals for, 52 against). FCD's last win at Dick's Sporting Goods Park came during the 2014 season. Dallas and Colorado played to a scoreless draw in the 2021 season opener on April 17 at Toyota Stadium.

About Colorado Rapids

After registering a draw and loss to open the season, Colorado earned three wins in a row over Vancouver Whitecaps, Minnesota United and Houston Dynamo respectively. Last time out, the Rapids fell 1-0 to Los Angeles FC. Colorado is currently on a six-game home unbeaten streak, a run that includes two wins and four draws. The Rapids will be without a crucial player this week as former FCD Homegrown Kellyn Acosta (who was traded to Colorado in 2018) is on international duty with the U.S. Men's National Team.
