
Columbus Crew SC's Wil Trapp and Gyasi Zardes Receive International Call-Ups

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Wil Trapp and forward Gyasi Zardes have received international call-ups from the United States Men's National Team ahead of a pair of Concacaf Nations League group stage matches against Cuba and Canada.
The United States is slated to face Cuba on Friday, October 11 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. before traveling to face Canada on Tuesday, October 15 at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario. The U.S. is in League A, Group A of the Concacaf Nations League alongside Canada and Cuba. The group winners from League A will advance to the Knockout Round, where a semifinal and final will be played to crown the 2019-2020 Concacaf Nations League champion.
Crew SC captain Wil Trapp has earned 20 caps for the U.S. Men's National Team. He earned his first cap for the Stars and Stripes on January 28, 2015 in a friendly at Chile, entering as a second-half substitute. Trapp most recently started for the U.S. in a friendly against Mexico earlier this year (September 6). In 2019, Trapp has made 27 regular-season appearances (25 starts) for the Black & Gold and has provided four assists.
Forward Gyasi Zardes has earned 53 caps with the U.S. Men's National Team, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists. Zardes made his debut for the U.S. in a friendly against Chile on January 28, 2015, and he scored his first goal for the Stars and Stripes on June 5, 2015 against the Netherlands. The forward most recently featured for the U.S. earlier this year in a friendly against Uruguay (September 10). In 2019, Zardes has made 27 regular-season appearances (all starts) for Crew SC while scoring a team-leading 13 goals and providing two assists.
Crew SC's current roster features nine players that have received a senior National Team call-up in the last 12 months: Harrison Afful, Luis Diaz, Waylon Francis, David Guzman, Jonathan Mensah, Eloy Room, Wil Trapp, Romario Williams and Gyasi Zardes.
