Columbus Crew SC News Release
Tonight's sell-out crowd was an announced attendance at Lower.com Field of 20,371
This weekend marks the first April sell-out for a regular-season Crew home match since the inaugural season (1996) of the Club -- 26 years ago when the team played at Ohio Stadium (1996-1998) -- before the team played at Historic Crew Stadium (1999-2021) and Lower.com Field (2021-Present)
Excluding the Historic Crew Stadium inaugural match played in May 1999, the Crew's earliest-in-season sellout at its soccer-specific home venue was previously June 13, 2015 which fell on regular-season home match number eight of that year
Since the Club first took the field in a soccer-specific stadium in 1999, the Club had previously never sold-out any of the Club's regular-season home match numbers two through seven. Tonight's match on April 2 was the Crew's third home contest in 2022
Next weekend at Lower.com Field, The United States Women's National Team will take on Uzbekistan in an international friendly on Saturday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast live on Fox and the Univision family of networks
Lower.com Field will host U.S. Soccer for the third time in just six months as the modern and dynamic facility recently played host to the U.S. Men's National Team for World Cup qualifiers on October 13, 2021, and January 27, 2022
The upcoming international friendly is the four-time World Cup champion and four-time Olympic gold medalists' first visit to Lower.com Field, and their tenth all-time match played in Columbus
The Crew hits the road on April 9 to face the Philadelphia Union before returning home. The Black & Gold have two additional home matches at Lower.com Field this month: April 16 and April 30. Supporters are encouraged to act early to secure their seats for upcoming matches.
