San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---For the second straight night offense was the story for the Colts, as San Angelo clubbed 17 hits and beat the Edinburg Roadrunners 19-7 Saturday night at Foster Field to earn a split of the four-game series.

For the fourth time in five games the Colts were down after half an inning, as Edinburg hit three straight homers in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Colts tied it in their half of the inning on a Cory Patton (3) three-run blast. The game would go back and forth from that point before San Angelo busted it open.

In the bottom of the fourth with the score 6-5 Roadrunners, the Colts scored five runs highlighted by bombs from Davis Page (3) and Clay Calfee (4). San Angelo scored two in the fifth and six in the sixth, as Patton (4) went deep again and Jon Edwards (5) homered for the second straight night. Patton (5) homered again in the eighth for the second three home run game of the season for a Colt.

Lost in all the offense was the debut of San Angelo right-hander Alex Casillas. When starter Gorman Romero struggled, Casillas came on and pitched five shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Casillas (1-0, 0.00) picked up the win, while the loser was Edinburg starter Scott Wingo (1-2, 4.12).
