San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas - The Colts added a new arm to their bullpen Friday, as they signed right-handed pitcher Alex Casillas. To make room for Casillas on the roster San Angelo released right-hander Steve MacFarland.

Casillas comes to the Colts from the Whitesands Pupfish in the Pecos League, where he was 3-0 with 36 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched. The California native played his college ball at Cal Lutheran University, where he threw a no-hitter his junior year.

MacFarland went 1-3 with an 8.64 ERA in six games, including three starts, for the Colts this season. Steve pitched for the Grand Prairie AirHogs of the American Association in 2010 and went a 3-2 with a 5.45 ERA in seven starts. A ninth round pick of the Pirates in 2006, MacFarland pitched three years with the San Francisco and Pittsburgh organizations.
