San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---In yet another team offensive outburst, the Colts recorded 14 hits on their way to a 15-4 win over the Rio Grande Valley White Wings Monday night at Foster Field. It was San Angelo's first series sweep of the season.

Leivi Ventura (5) went deep in the top of the first inning for the White Wings, but that was as close as Rio Grande Valley would come to winning. San Angelo scored six runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a Clay Calfee two-run double and a Cory Patton (2) two-run homer.

The White Wings got to within 6-4, but the Colts started the second inning with back-to-back-to-back home runs from Mark Ramos (2), Daryl Jones (11) and Calfee (3). Jones is now one homer away from tying his career high of 12, and has already scored 23 runs and driven in 28 on the season.

The Colts busted out with one more big inning in the sixth, when they scored five runs on just two hits. Reliever Eddie Dennis Jr. was not helped out by two errors, or two hit batters and a walk, that helped the Colts extend the lead to 14-4. Gunner Glad (1) would add his first home run in the seventh.

Lost in all the offense was the strong outing from starter Gorman Romero (3-0, 3.54), who allowed four runs on six hits in six innings pitched. The line on losing pitcher Alexander Concepcion (2-2, 9.37) was not pretty, as he gave up nine earned runs before recording an out in the second inning.
