Colts Slug Past Wings

SAN ANGELO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (26-23) where back in action after nearly a week off from baseball, where they met up with the San Angelo Colts (25-24) Saturday night at Foster field. The Colts used a five run fifth inning to slug past the Wings 13-1.

The Wings struck first scoring Albert Carpen on a fielder's choice off the bat of Tyler Mclntyre giving the Wings an early 1-0 lead.

Bubby Williams hit a two out single to spark a three run rally in the bottom of the second inning. Braden Embry then hit a sharp ground ball to Kevin Lusson who air mailed the throw over Goose Kallunki advancing both runners.

This opened the door for Jordan Marks who squeezed a base hit into left field scoring Williams and Embry giving the Colts a 2-1 lead.

The Colts weren't done there when leadoff man Cody Hudson scored Marks on an RBI single extending their lead to 3-1.

San Angelo continued their offensive charge with back to back hits from Hutson and Williams. This opened the door for Braden Embry who belted a two run RBI single scoring Hutson and Williams making it 5-1 Colts.

In the bottom of the fifth inning Steve Rinaudo swung on the first pitch belting a leadoff home run adding to the lead making it 6-1.

Joseph Hicks followed with a double. Hicks later scored on a Hutson RBI single extending the lead 7-1.

The Colts weren't done as Hutson and Williams hit back to back singles opening the door for Marks. Marks launched a three run home run off of relief pitcher Kyle Roliard making it 10-1 Colts.

Jon Dziomba led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a double, later scoring on a fielder's choice off the bat of Hicks extending the lead to 11-1.

The Colts would hold on from there adding two more runs making it 13-1, the Colts where led by Buddy Williams who went a perfect 4-for-4 on the night.

Bobby O'Neill(2-5) was charged with the loss going just four and one third; allowing 10 hits on eight runs. B.J Hyatt (1-0) was credited with his first win of the year going five innings allowing just one run and scattering just three hits.

Game two of the four game series is set for Sunday, with the first pitch slatted for 6:05 p.m.
