Fort Worth Cats News Release
After winning three in a row over the San Angelo Colts, the Fort Worth Cats dropped their second game in a row on Saturday night in Edinburg.
The Roadrunners (21-27) led for the entirety of the game as they went ahead on an Agustin Septimo solo home run in the first inning.
The Cats (31-18) had to do everything in their power to avoid being shut out for the first time this season. The team got its lone run off a Chris Ellison single in the eighth inning - one of only three Cats' hits on the evening.
Edinburg starter Maximino de la Cruz gave up only one hit and walked none over six innings-pitched. He gave way to reliever Alex Schmarzo, who completed a three-inning save, giving up the unearned run on two hits and two walks.
Cats' starter Roman Gomez got the loss, giving up five earned runs on nine hits in seven innings.
The Cats look to get back on the winning track on Sunday against the Roadrunners. First pitch from Edinburg will take place at 6:05 p.m.
After the conclusion of the four-game series, the Cats head home to Fort Worth for an eight-game homestand beginning July 17.
Tickets to all home games can be purchased by calling (817) 332-CATS or by going online to FWCats.com.
