Edinburg, Texas---The story was different tonight; but the Colts incurred the same result. San Angelo (45-28) fell to the Edinburg Roadrunners (42-31) by a count of 6-2. The combination pulls the second place team to within three games of frontrunning San Angelo.

Chandler Barnard (9-4) squandered five runs in his outing while counterpart, Miguel Martinez (8-4), lasted eight innings and allowed two runs in earning the victory.

Another strong beginning by the Colts propelled the team to the lead. With one out, Hunter Jobes walked and Rich Paz drove the centerfielder home with a double down the left-field line. The count was 1-0 road team.

Like on most nights, though, San Angelo starting pitching was unable to hold the lead in the bottom of the frame. Wilmer Pino singled and advanced to second on a passed ball. After Sergio Guerrero took his base, Hector Garanzuay flew out to center. Pino swiped third during Carlos Heread's plate appearance. Edinburg scored to tie the game when Hereaud struck out and Travis Calloway's throw sailed into center-field. Guerrero traversed to third on that play. Hunter Owen finalized the scoring in the frame with an RBI single to third. After an inning, the Roadrunners led 2-1.

San Angelo responded in the third. Travis Calloway lined a single to left before Ronnie Gaines doubled. Runners were situated at second and third when Jobes lifted a sacrifice fly to left. Gaines sprinted to third and the contest was knotted at two.

Edinburg showed it's tenacity in the bottom of the sixth against Barnard. After two outs had been recorded, Hunter Owen reached on an error by Bryan Frichter. Bryon Smith followed with a single before Vincent Blue untied the game with an RBI single. With runners situated at the corners, San Angelo's starter balked to push the fourth run across.

The home team added another on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh. Pino pulled a single to right. After Guerrero popped out, Pino swiped two bases. Once Pino was at third, Garanzuay walked and Hereaud delivered a sacrifice fly to center.

Another insurance run was provided by the Roadrunners in the eighth. Smith and Blue singled when pinch-hitter, Eric Gonzalez pushed a sacrifice bunt. Robert Matlock had an unsuccessful at-bat as he grounded into a fielders' choice; Smith was thrown out at the plate. Pino drove home Blue, with a base hit, to give Edinburg the final score; 6-2.
