San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas - First baseman Ryan Hutson hit two-three homers and recorded seven RBIs, as the Colts destroyed the McAllen Thunder, 16-2, Thursday night at Foster Field.
Hutson made the most out of his first start of the year. He went 3-for-4 with the two home runs, an RBI double, and three runs scored.
Hutson, designated hitter Kyle Nichols, and right fielder Dan Evatt all homered in the win. The Colts led 3-1 after two innings, and then blew the game open with a five-run third.
Hutson hit his first homer in the third. Nichols, Evatt, left fielder Steve Rinaudo, and catcher Bubby Williams also scored that inning.
Thunder starter Jacob Douglas (2-2) failed to record an out in the third, and was pulled in favor of reliever Gabriel Garcia. Douglas surrendered eight runs on five hits and walked four batters in two-plus innings of work.
San Angelo had another big inning in the seventh, scoring four runs on just two hits. Rinaudo scored on an error, and then Nichols and Williams came home on Hutson's second three-run homer of the night.
While the Colts piled on the runs in the middle innings, starter Demetrius Banks held the Thunder scoreless from the fourth on. Banks (3-0) gave up two runs on six hits in six innings pitched. Banks also recorded a game-high six strikeouts.
Relievers Jeremy Tietze and Alfredo Caballero combined to pitch three shutout innings to finish the game for San Angelo.
