Colorado's Puma Receives 2012 Media Relations Award

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Tuesday that J.P. Puma of the Colorado Eagles is the 2011-12 recipient of the Award of Excellence for Media Relations as determined in voting by members of the media, league media relations directors and broadcasters.

The other finalists were Eric Levine of the Elmira Jackals, Will Hoenike of the Idaho Steelheads and Mike Modugno of the Kalamazoo Wings.

Puma, who was named the Communications Executive of the Year for the Central Hockey League in 2009-10, joined the Eagles in 2006, and after spending his first season with the club as a game operations and corporate department intern, he has filled the position of manager of communications. In this role, his responsibilities include being the team's liaison to the media, compiling team information and handling certain player appearances. Puma grew up in Fort Collins, Colo. and went to college at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
