Colorado Rapids Defender Moïse Bombito Called up to Canada Men's National Team

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids defender Moïse Bombito has been called up to the Canada Men's National Team ahead of an international friendly against Japan that will take place in Niigata, Japan, on Friday, October 13, Canada Soccer announced today.

Bombito, 23, is in his first season with the Rapids after being selected third overall by the club in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft from the University of New Hampshire. He made his MLS debut on May 13 and has gone on to make 10 appearances for the Rapids, recording 661 minutes and seven starts since.

During his collegiate career, Bombito was named the 2022 America East Defender of the Year and was a Second-Team All-American selection after helping lead a New Hampshire defense that ranked third in the NCAA with a 0.5 goals against average in 2022. Bombito was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy that year, along with being named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year and being selected to the All-ECAC First Team. The Montreal, Canada, native began his collegiate career at Iowa Western Community College where he won the NJCAA National Championship in 2021 and also spent time in USL League 2 with Seacoast United Phantoms, scoring three goals across 10 appearances in 2022.

Bombito made his national team debut during the 2023 Concacaf Nations League Finals this past June. Appearing in all four of Canada's Nations League games, Bombito recorded 247 minutes during the tournament and helped the North American side to the finals of the competition where the team finished as runners-up.
