TUCSON. Ariz ¬â¢ The Colorado Rapids will play their final scrimmage of preseason when they face Phoenix Rising FC of the USL Championship on Saturday, April 10, as part of the Visit Tucson Sun Cup. Fans can tune in to the Live Blog on ColoradoRapids.com beginning at 8 PM MT.
"[The confidence of the group] is good," Rapids assistant coach Chris Little said. "We've got one remaining game here at the weekend. We've got competition for places. The work ethic is good. We've been watching the video. We've been able to apply things we want to do and when it works, we think it can really give us some good solutions. There's a lot of confidence in the group."
This is the second time Colorado will face Phoenix in a scrimmage this preseason. On March 16, the Rapids defeated Phoenix, 2-0, in a 45-minute half after beating Portland Timbers by the same score line in the first half. Oliver Larraz and Matt Hundley, both Rapids Academy products and Homegrown Players, scored for the Rapids.
After five weeks in Tucson, the Rapids will return to Denver to begin preparations for the first match of the 2021 MLS regular season on Saturday, April 17, at FC Dallas. The Burgundy Boys will host their Home Opener on Saturday, April 24, against 2021 expansion side Austin FC.
