Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today the release of championship goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo and developmental player Jonathan Lounsbury. Both cuts come as the defending CHL champs strive to meet the league's roster deadline this afternoon; each team must have no more than 19 players on their active roster.

Colaiacovo helped lead the Eagles to their first championship in 2004-05 as he went 4-0 in the playoffs, registering a 1.00 GAA and a .962 SV%. He started --and won -- every series-clinching game in the 2005 playoffs, topping it off with a 36-save shutout against the Laredo Bucks to clinch the title. After another solid season in 2005-06, Colaiacovo signed a 5-game tryout agreement in the middle of the 2006-07 season after coming back from various injuries. The goaltender is currently the winningest netminder in Eagles history with a career mark of 43-17-5, a 2.55 GAA and a .916 SV%.

Lounsbury, a developmental defenseman, came to the Eagles from the Southern Professional Hockey League after registering 48 points (4-44-48) with the Huntsville Havoc last season; those totals made him the league's highest scoring defenseman. The Winthrop, Massachusetts native previously attended the University of Southern Main, averaging 24 points a season over four years.

The Eagles open their 5th Anniversary season Friday, Oct. 19 against the Arizona Sundogs. Their home opener -- when they will raise their championship banner -- will be Wednesday, Oct. 24 against the Tulsa Oilers.
