
Mudbugs prepare to start the season

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Finally! It's almost time for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs to begin the 2007-2008 Central Hockey regular season. The Mudbugs season opener is Friday night at Mississippi, and the home opener follows on Saturday night at the CenturyTel Center against the Texas Brahmas.
Friday night at the Desoto Civic Center , the Mudbugs will kick off their eleventh season of play when they take on the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05 pm. Don't forget to tune in to the radio broadcast on News radio 710 AM KEEL or listen online at www.710keel.com to hear all the action. Also this season, for the first time, you can watch the game online for free with the brand new CHL Network! Click on the CHL Network link at www.centralhockeyleague.com to watch.
Then on Saturday night, the fun begins at CenturyTel Center when the 'Bugs take to the ice at 7:05 pm for the home opener. Don't forget to arrive early, because the first 4,500 fans through the door will receive a free Mudbugs magnet schedule, courtesy of Johnny's Pizza. That night's opponent will be the new-look Texas Brahmas, who are back in the CHL after taking last year off. It will be a special night at CenturyTel, as the Mudbugs celebrate the home opener and will also honor former great Dan Wildfong. After eight seasons, two championships, and scores of team records in his time as a player in Bossier-Shreveport, Wildfong retired and took over as the Brahmas' new Head Coach. Before the game, he will be presented with an original oil painting to commemorate his contribution to the Mudbugs franchise.
In addition to the magnet schedule giveaway, there's another reason to show up early. The first 2,500 fans into the building Saturday night will receive a commemorative poster of the Wildfong painting, courtesy of McKay Consulting.
