
Colonials Score Six Runs in Eighth Inning, Win 8-2

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials scored six times in the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie and beat the New Jersey Jackals 8-2 at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey on Friday evening.
Colonials' starter Miguel Flores (5-3) tossed seven innings in the win, allowing just two runs (one earned) on three hits, five walks, and six strike-outs. Rafael Lluberes and Kyle Bradley each pitched a hitless inning to close out the ball game for the Colonials.
Pittsfield designated hitter Donny Leon (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) belted his fourth homer of the year, the game winning two-run shot, to begin Pittsfield's late rally. Shortstop Matt Nandin (3-for-5, 2B, RBI) and catcher Scott Knazek (3-for-4, RBI) each enjoyed three hit games while third baseman Jason Taylor cranked his sixth homer of the season for the winners.
Jackals' starting pitcher Chris Vasami took the no-decision after five and two-thirds innings of work. He gave up two runs on five hits while walking four and striking out a pair. Reliever Edgar Estanga (1-4) suffered the loss over two innings out of the bullpen, allowing four runs on four hits
Left fielder Jeff Grose (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) knocked in both runs for New Jersey with an early two-run double against Flores in the second inning.
The Colonials will play game three of the four game series with the New Jersey Jackals at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, NJ on Saturday night when lefty David Qualbem (3-5) makes the start for Pittsfield against the Jackals' at 7:05pm.
