Colonials Fall to Jackals 6-3

Worcester, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials lost to the New Jersey Jackals 6-3 at Wahconah Park on Saturday night.

Colonials' starter Patrick Moran (0-1) suffered the loss in his first start of the season, giving-up four runs (three earned) on six hits over four and one-third innings.

Pittsfield outfielder Dan Carte (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) clubbed his league leading seventh home run of the season and extended his league high hitting streak to 23 consecutive games. Catcher Scott Knazek (3-for-4, 2B) collected three hits on the night while DH Daniel Barbero (1-for-3, RBI) added an RBI for the home team.

Jackals' starting pitcher Ryan Lobban (2-2) earned the win going six innings, allowing two runs on four hits, two walks, and six strike-outs.

The Colonials will play game two of the series on Sunday evening at 6:35pm, when lefty David Quaben (1-4) takes the ball against New Jerseys' Issac Pavlik (2-2). Fans will be invited to stay and enjoy the annual Fourth of July fireworks show following the final out of the game at Wahconah Park.
