Lancaster Stormers News Release

Chris Cody fired 6 2/3 strong innings, pitching the York Revolution to a 6-3 victory over the Lancaster Barnstormers early Tuesday at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The win boosted York back ahead of the Barnstormers by one-half game in the second half and evened the War of the Roses series at six games apiece.

Cody (9-5) limited Lancaster to seven singles and did not walk a batter in his appearance while striking out five as he beat the Barnstormers for the third time in 2011.

James Shanks provided the big boost for the Revolution, slamming a two-run homer to right on an 0-2 pitch from Matt Wright (2-7) with two outs in the top of the third. The blast staked York and Cody to a 3-1 advantage.

The Barnstormers were able to cut the lead to one in the bottom of the fourth. Matt Watson singled to right with one out, extending his hitting streak to 13 games. Ramon Castro bobbled Aaron Herr's potential double play grounder toward second base, getting only an out at first. With the extra opportunity, Adam Calderone collected the second of his three singles on the day, a soft liner to right, chasing Watson home with the tally.

York pulled away against Wright in the sixth. Vince Harrison opened the inning with a double yanked into the left field corner. Chris Nowak walked, and Eric Eymann smoked a double to the alley in left center for a 5-2 lead. Castro singled home a run off reliever Evan Englebrook in the top of the ninth for an added insurance run before Herr capped the scoring with a one-out solo homer in the bottom of the ninth.

Wright worked eight innings, yielding 11 hits and five runs in the loss. He walked one and struck out six.

The Barnstormers head to Long Island on Wednesday for a 7:05 start against the Ducks at Bethpage Ballpark. Lancaster will send right-hander Cesar Carrillo (2-8) to the hill. He will be matched up against right-hander Mark Diapoules (4-1). The game will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA, and streamed live on sportsjuice.com.

NOTES: Herr's homer was his third in four games...It was Lancaster's only extra-base hit of the game...Calderone is 11-for-26 (.423) in his last seven games...Lancaster has lost the finale of all four series played in the second half.
