York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon in front of 5,164 fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster. The Revolution played very balanced baseball collecting six runs off of 12 hits while getting a very strong outing from starter Chris Cody who was followed by solid bullpen work. With the victory, York has now reclaimed first place in the Freedom Division and have tied the "War of the Roses" series at 6-6.

The Revolution struck first in the top of the second inning as LF James Shanks scored on an error that was hit by SS Eric Eymann, giving them an early 1-0 lead.

Lancaster tied the game up 1-1 in the bottom half as DH Aaron Herr crossed the plate on a double play ball hit by RF Brandon Jones.

York came right back the next inning in the third with Shanks crushing a two-run homer to right field giving the Revs a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, CF Adam Calderone slapped a single to score RF Matt Watson who also singled earlier in the inning cutting York's lead to 3-2.

The Revolution put a couple of more runs on the board in the sixth inning increasing their lead to 5-2. With 3B Vince Harrison leading off with a double and 1B Chris Nowak drawing a walk, Eymann drilled a double to deep center to plate both runners.

York added one more insurance run in the top of the ninth inning to pad their lead by way of 2B Ramon Castro smashing a single to right-center bringing in RF Chris Walker, giving them a 6-2 advantage.

The Barnstormers wouldn't stay quiet in the bottom half of the ninth as DH Aaron Herr knocked a solo shot over the right field wall, but Lancaster pulled no closer as York took the win with a final score of 6-3, avoiding the series sweep.

Cody earned his team-leading ninth win (9-5) pitching a brilliant six and two-thirds innings while only giving up two runs, no walks, and striking out five.

York will travel to Bridgeport to start a three-game series facing the Bluefish's Wardell Starling (0-0, 0.00) Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m. in Bridgeport. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, Shoutcast.com (WPDC), and YorkRevsTV.com beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.

Notes: With Cody pitching into the seventh inning it was the second time in ten games that a York starter has pitched six innings or more (Cody both times). Harrison has extended his hitting streak to six games. With two hits in the game, Shanks is now on a six game hitting streak.
