Swift Current Broncos News Release
Hockey Canada announced the 22 players who will represent Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team at the 2008 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament.
Eakin is one of 10 players from the Western Hockey League and 5 from the Eastern Division.
Bill Peters, Canada's head coach, assembled the roster along with assistants Steve Spott and André Tourigny. Hockey Canada's head scout, Al Murray, provided support throughout the process.
"We have a roster that we feel will compete for the gold medal in Slovakia," says Peters. "It was difficult for us to pick 22 players out of the original group of 40. This was as competitive of a camp as it gets."
Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team will compete in the 2008 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament from August 12-16, 2008.
Canada has won the tournament three of the past four years.
Eakin will be the second Broncos player in successive years to play for the Under 18 National Team, as Geordie Wudrick played for last year's team.
