Prince George Cougars News Release
PRINCE GEORGE, BC - Over 320 individuals from sixteen non-profit organizations and volunteer groups received tickets to Cougars games in the 2009/2010 season, thanks to the Cougars CN Community Ticket Program. Completing its seventh season this year, the program continued to see success in its aim to reward individuals and organizations who volunteer, fundraise and concentrate their efforts on improving and benefitting the community.
Cougars fans were encouraged to contact the Cougars office with recommendations of deserving individuals and groups throughout the season.
"This season the task of distributing the tickets was simple because there were so many deserving groups," said Cougars Vice President, Brandi Brodsky. "With all the volunteers working so hard to raise money for the Haiti Earthquake Relief, the Canadian Red Cross was an obvious choice. We also teamed up with Operation Red Nose and Prince George Search & Rescue to ensure that their volunteers, who work so hard to keep others safe, were able to attend one of our games for free."
In addition, the BC Paraplegic Association, Canadian Cancer Society, Children First PG, CFIS FM, Future Cents Program, Prince George Community Policing, Prince George Native Friendship Centre, Prism Film Festival, Sacred Heart School, Spirit of the North Foundation, St. Mary's School and University Hospital of Northern BC Paediatrics Unit all received tickets.
"We appreciated the chance to work with CN on the Community Ticket Program once again this season and thank them for their on-going support of our team and our community," said Brodsky.
