Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs will bring 340 games of playoff experience into their first round playoff series against the Portland Winterhawks that will begin on Saturday night at 7:00 Portland's Rose Garden.
Spokane comes in as the Western Conference's fourth seed and will hold home-ice advantage in the series hosting games three, four and, if necessary, five next week. The Chiefs will stay in Portland on Sunday night to play game two at 5:00.
Despite the Arena hosting the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament this weekend the Chiefs office will be open Friday for regular business office hours and on Saturday from 9:00-3:00. Tickets for games three and four of the series are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TIcketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
Three Chiefs, Jared Cowen, Mitch Wahl and Levko Koper, appeared in the playoffs in 2007 during their first round loss to the Everett Silvertips. Jared Spurgeon was on the team but did not play due to injury. Eight Chiefs were on the Memorial Cup team in 2008 while 16 players were on last year's roster when Spokane and Vancouver went seven games in the second round of the playoffs.
Twenty-year-old Ryan Letts and 19-year-old Levko Koper are tied with 38 career playoff games to lead all Chiefs. Letts played 15 games in Calgary and another 23 with the Chiefs over the past two seasons. Mitch Wahl has appeared in 37 games while Kyle Beach has played in 34 career playoff games, 10 with Lethbridge last year and 24 over three seasons in Everett. Tyler Johnson and Spurgeon have 33 post-season games under their belts.
Mike Boyle will go on the air a half-an-hour prior to each game with Comcast Hockey Tonight on 1510 KGA.
