Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- For the second time in a month, the Canadian Hockey League has delivered some great news to western Manitoba hockey fans hoping for the opportunity to purchase tickets to the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
The CHL has announced that 120 Memorial Cup Ticket Packages have been turned back to the Local Host Organizing Committee in an effort to meet local demand.
Up until this week the CHL was holding 1,200 tickets for sponsors, the three major junior leagues, the National hockey league and CHL teams. The balance of the tickets - 3,816 - have been sold by the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Host Organizing Committee.
"We're happy to announce that after our commitments to the CHL Teams and Sponsors, western Manitoba hockey fans still have an excellent opportunity to purchase tickets to the MasterCard Memorial Cup," says Tournament Chairman Jeff Cristall.
In making the announcement, Cristall announced that the Host Organizing Committee does not expect to have any more ticket releases from the CHL until the week of the event.
The 120 Ticket packages are available for $399 plus GST and can be purchased at the Wheat Kings' office.
For the first time in history, the Wheat Kings have earned the right to play host to the MasterCard Memorial Cup. This will mark the first time that Manitoba has played host to the 4-team National Championship and it comes during the province's 140th Anniversary Celebrations.
In related news, the WHL's Wheat Kings continue to prepare for their opening round playoff series with the Swift Current Broncos. Games one and two are scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights and fans are encouraged to come early as the Road to the Memorial Cup Starts Here!
Tickets to the opening two games of the series can be purchased at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
