Catholic Medical Center (CMC) is proud to announce that the Manchester Monarchs will receive the 2016 Charles F. Whittemore Award. This award is given each year to an organization or individual that exemplifies the philanthropic spirit of Mr. Whittemore, past President and CEO and long-time board member of CMC, who believed in the power of philanthropy and its impact on the lives of countless people.

"The Manchester Monarchs have demonstrated their belief in the power of philanthropy in the community since creating their team in 2001," said CMC President and CEO Joseph Pepe, MD. "They have generously focused their charitable efforts on lending support to Education, Character Development, Health and Safety and recreation for the youth of Manchester, New Hampshire."

The Manchester Monarchs have been loyal supporters of Catholic Medical Center since 2004, donating over $220,000 in support of the CMC Special Care Nursery, The Mom's Place, Emergency Department, and lead testing for children. Since 2011 the Manchester Monarchs have also organized and hosted Pink in the Rink, a fundraising event that helps support the purchase of emerging technologies for the CMC Breast Care Center. "The Monarchs are honored to be chosen as the recipient of the Charles F. Whittemore Award," said Manchester Monarchs President Matt Welch. "We take great pride in giving back to the local community and we are grateful to be recognized by Catholic Medical Center for our efforts. CMC has been a long standing partner of the Monarchs and we are excited to continue to work together on community initiatives for years to come."

The support of the community and individuals allows Catholic Medical Center to provide millions of dollars in charitable care each year. These generous donations help deliver technologically advanced healthcare to individuals regardless of their ability to pay. Programs like the Pregnancy Care Center and Poisson Dental would not be possible were it not for the unwavering support and leadership of those recognized with the Charles F. Whittemore Award.
