Wheeling Nailers News Release
Miller, 25, will be entering his fifth professional season in the fall, after spending the majority of his first four seasons in the ECHL and CHL, while seeing a bit of time in the AHL. Kenton's rookie campaign was his most electric when it came to putting up big numbers, as he led the 2012-13 Missouri Mavericks of the CHL with 30 goals, and finished second on the squad with 51 points. He went on to add 11 points in the playoffs, as Missouri reached the second round. The Redvers, Saskatchewan native made the move to the ECHL for his sophomore campaign, starting with the Utah Grizzlies and finishing with the Fort Wayne Komets. That year, he posted 20 points in 61 games. Miller has spent each of the last two seasons with Wichita, recording 17 goals and 43 points in 2014-15, followed by 16 goals and 34 points this past season. In total, Kenton has amassed 69 goals, 79 assists, and 148 points in 248 professional games.
"Kenton Miller is a great addition to our team, and will make us very strong up the middle at the center position," said Nailers Head Coach Jeff Christian. "He has AHL experience, and we are looking for him to be a top point producer."
Prior to turning pro, Miller played four seasons of junior hockey in the WHL as a member of the Spokane Chiefs, Calgary Hitmen, and Moose Jaw Warriors. Kenton's clubs reached the postseason in all four of those years, winning at least one round on three occasions. His most productive campaign came in 2011-12, when he tallied 35 goals and 52 points - mostly with the Warriors. Miller tacked on seven playoff goals that season, giving him 42 in 83 games overall. His career totals in juniors were 60 goals, 57 assists, and 117 points in 242 contests.
Kenton Miller and the Wheeling Nailers will begin the 2016-17 season on October 15th against the Brampton Beast at 7:05.
