Lane Scheidl and Tyler Shattock Ink Extensions with K-Wings

KALAMAZOO, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliates of the Tampa Bay Lightning, have re-signed forwards Lane Scheidl and Tyler Shattock, the team announced Friday.
Scheidl, 24, will skate in his fourth season of professional hockey and his third with the Wings. The 5-foot-11 forward posted career highs last year in games played (72), goals (17), assists (25), and points (42), while playing a critical role in the Wings' late chase for a playoff spot. Scheidl's most memorable stretch during the 2015-16 season occurred when he was able to chip in ten goals in ten games from March 13 through April 2.
"Lane was one of our most consistent players from start to finish last season," head coach Nick Bootland said. "He wants to continue to provide more offense and score more goals, but he's capable of contributing every night, even if he's off the score sheet."
Since turning pro in 2013, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native has notched 84 points in 182 career games, including seven points in 34 games at the American Hockey League level with the Worcester Sharks. Before his debut in the professional ranks, Scheidl played 277 games in the Western Hockey League with Vancouver, Red Deer, and Regina, where he tallied 186 career points.
Shattock, 26, enters his seventh season of professional hockey in 2016-17, and his second with the Wings. The big-bodied forward, who was last year's team captain, appeared in 59 games and tallied 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists), while pacing the team with his physical style of play.
"His first half of the year wasn't ideal, but his last 20 games (15 points) were outstanding for us." Bootland said. "He had an injury in the second to last game of the season and his presence was greatly missed during the playoffs."
A 2009 draft pick of the St. Louis Blues (round four, pick 108), Shattock began his pro career in 2010 with the American Hockey League's Peoria Rivermen. With 258 career AHL games under his belt and 127 more in the ECHL, Shattock brings experience, toughness, and a scoring touch around the goal.
"Tyler is a true power forward who plays the game fast and hard," Bootland added. "We plan to use him in all situations because his unique skillset is hard for opponents to offset."
A native of Vernon, British Columbia, Shattock spent four years in the Western Hockey League with Kamloops and Calgary before turning pro. He was a member of the Calgary Hitmen's championship team in 2010 and skated in that year's Memorial Cup alongside current teammate Ben Wilson.
