
Clutch Hitting Propels 'Riders to Another Win

James Tomlin laced an RBI double to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 5-5 tie with Northwest Arkansas, earning Frisco its second straight win over the Naturals, 8-5.
Ben Snyder (1-2, 2.45) picked up his first victory of the season and didn't allow a hit over 1.1 innings. He walked one and struck out two. Cody Eppley (0-0, 1.35) recorded his fourth save as a member of the RoughRiders.
The 'Riders started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as second baseman Matt Lawson homered to right field on the first pitch he saw from Naturals starter, Mike Montgomery. He now has three home runs on the season. Right fielder Joey Butler followed with an RBI single and Frisco took a 2-0 lead.
Northwest Arkansas battled back against 'Riders starter Tanner Roark in the top of the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead with a two-run home run off the bat of catcher Manny Pina. Roark (5-1, 4.47) gave up five runs on six hits, including two home runs. He struck out six batters.
The 'Riders tied the game at five with RBI doubles by Elio Sarmiento and Wes Bankston in the sixth and seventh innings.
Frisco (27-19) goes for the sweep against Northwest Arkansas (28-17) on Friday night. LHP Richard Bleier (2-4, 5.30) will be looking for his third win of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.
Notes: Naturals third baseman Mike Moustakas left game in third (unspecified injury).
