Clowe, Bernier assigned to Barons

CLEVELAND - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club assigned left wing Ryane Clowe and re-assigned right wing Steve Bernier to the Cleveland Barons.

Named the Barons Most Valuable Player for 2004-05, Clowe registered the second-most prolific offensive season in Barons history. The St. John's, Newfoundland native led the Barons points (62), goals (27), assists (35), plus/minus (+19), multi-point games (16), power play points (23), and power play goals (14). He appeared in 74 games for the Barons, registering 101 penalty minutes.

Orginally selected by the San Jose Sharks with the 175th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Clowe appeared in 72 games during the 2003-04 season. During his rookie campaign, he totaled 11 goals and 29 assists (11-29-40) with 97 penalty minutes.

Clowe has recorded two points (0-2-2) in 15 games with the Sharks this season.

Selected by the Sharks in the first round (16th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Bernier earned ten points (4-6-10) in 9 games with the Barons before being recalled to San Jose. The rookie right wing earned one goal in five games with the Sharks.

He is currently ranked 5th on the team in scoring and 22nd among American Hockey League rookies.

The Barons will return to National City Rink located in The Q on Saturday, November 26 against the Manitoba Moose at 1:05pm, prior to a Sunday afternoon game against the Moose.
