Adirondack Frostbite News Release
ROANOKE, VA - Sylvain Cloutier scored four goals as part of a record night, and Mike Boudreau earned the win in his professional debut, as the Adirondack Frostbite defeated the Roanoke Valley Vipers for the 12th time in 12 meetings this season by a final score of 5-3. Cloutier's four goals tied Frank Littlejohn for the most goals in one game by an Adirondack player, and he also scored his 18th power-play goal of the season in the game, breaking the record he set last season.
Adirondack got off to a quick start, opening the scoring just 51 seconds into the first period. Ryan Bennett had the puck in the right-wing circle of the Vipers' end, and fed a cross-ice pass to Mark Hurtubise on the left-wing side. Hurtubise one-timed a shot past goaltender Glenn Ridler for his 20th goal of the season.
Roanoke pulled even with a power-play goal at 10:06. Mike Boudreau, making his pro debut in goal for the Frostbite, made two quick saves, but the third opportunity settled on the stick of Mark Scott at the top of the crease, and he was able to slide a shot just beyone Boudreau's reach for his 16th of the year.
The Vipers took a 2-1 lead at 17:55. Jan Jas stole the puck at the Frostbite blue line, and skated in all alone, beating Boudreau off of his backhand to the top shelf for his 18th goal.
But, the Frostbite pulled even in the final minute of the period, scoring a power-play goal at the 19:23 mark. Hugo Belanger moved the puck to Greg Koehler in the left-wing circle, and he quickly moved the puck to Cloutier at the near post, and Cloutier was able to one-time a shot past Ridler for his 26th of the year.
Roanoke scored the only goal of the second period to take a 3-2 lead through 40 minutes. Mike Wiggins gathered in a loose puck at the Frostbite blue line, and skated in on Boudreau, and was able to tuck a shot home on the far post for his 30th of the season.
Cloutier scored his second power-play goal of the night at 6:12 of the third to tie the game at three, as he tipped a long shot from Drevitch past Ridler.
Adirondack regained the lead just 2:05 later as Greg Koehler picked up the puck in the left-wing circle and blasted a wrist shot over the left shoulder of Rider for his 17th of the season.
Cloutier capped the hat trick at 10:55, taking a centering feed from Koehler and
