
Detroit hockey icon to make appearance at Flags last home game

PORT HURON, MI-- The Port Huron Flags, proud member of the United Hockey League announced today that former Detroit Red Wing Igor Larionov will be in attendance at the last game of The Flags' 2006 inaugural season.
Three time Stanley Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist Igor Larionov has offered his support to professional hockey's only community owned, nonprofit club by accepting an invitation to participate in the pre-game honorary puck drop on April 14, 2006, at The Flags' last inaugural season home game.
The commemorative night, designated "Fan Appreciation Day" marks the end of a historic season for the expansion club, one The Flags hope to build on for many years to come.
"We've made a great effort in our inaugural year to honor the game's past," said Flags' General Manager Herb Hammond. "We're thrilled to be able to reinforce that at our last game, with an icon like Igor Larionov on board offering his support."
Larionov will be honored April 14th, 2006 during the pre-game ceremonial puck drop at McMorran Arena where The Flags will host the Motor City Mechanics and conclude their inaugural season schedule. Flags fans will have the opportunity to purchase discounted merchandise commemorating Larionov's 27 year career, particularly his DVD "Farwell from Moscow," proceeds from which will be donated to the Larionov Youth Hockey Charitable Foundation. The Larionov Youth Hockey Charitable Foundation
Three time Stanley Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist Igor Larionov bid farewell to the game on December 13, 2004, after an unparalleled 27-year career. He celebrates his contribution to the game of hockey with the release of the "Farewell From Moscow" DVD. This 3 hour documentary of Igor's career, which also includes career highlights, allows fans to relive one of the most momentous occasions in sports history, Igor Larionov's final game in Moscow. The film chronicles all the excitement, energy and passion of Larionov's final game, while also giving a rare behind-the-scenes look at the athlete with candid interviews from Igor, former teammates and coaches. Proceeds from the sale of the "Farewell From Moscow" DVD will be donated to the Larionov Youth Hockey Charitable Foundation. Igor will be promoting his charity and DVD release with signing appearances throughout 2006.
