Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY - It was the same story, different day for the Brooklyn Cyclones as they were shutout for the second consecutive day by the Hudson Valley Renegades, falling on Sunday afternoon by the score of 3-0. Brooklyn managed just two hits and finished the series with 14 runs in the six-game series while batting .138 (25-181) with 83 strikeouts.

After Brooklyn went in order in the top of the first, the Renegades drew first blood in the bottom of the frame. Austin Wells had a one-out double, advanced to third on a balk called against Brooklyn starter Daison Acosta and came home on a sac fly off the bat of Tyler Hardman. Hudson Valley tacked on a run in the top of the third and had a 2-0 lead before Brooklyn got their first hit of the game.

That would come in the top of the sixth when Tanner Murphy blooped a fly ball into right field and hustled all the way to second for a one-out double. After Matt Rudick flied out, Nic Gaddis worked a walk to get the tying run aboard, but J.T. Schwartz flied out to deep left field to end the threat.

The Renegades tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh on a Everson Pereira RBI single to extend the Hudson Valley lead to 3-0, which is how the game would end.

Brooklyn will look to bounce back when they return to Coney Island on Tuesday to open a six-game series with the Bowling Green Hot Rods. It's a Taco Tuesday featuring 2 for $5 tacos and drink specials. Tickets start at just $10 and are available now by calling 718-507-TIXX, in person at the Maimonides Park Box Office or at the Geico Online Box Office at BrooklynCyclones.com.
