Clippers update
August 3, 2004 - International League (IL1)
Columbus Clippers News Release
The Clippers return home Thursday and we are gearing up for the big August push. We have 21 home games this month (and the beginning of September.) Rumors are that we may have All-Stars John Olerud and/or Fred McGriff with the Clippers this homestand.
Both are great stories. Olerud is one of the few players never to play in the minor leagues. McGriff needs seven home runs to reach 500. Experts say McGriff needs the seven home runs to qualify for the Hall of Fame. I will let you know as soon as I hear something.
Down the stretch they come
The Clippers begin play today 1.5 games out of first place. Here is what the Clippers have left on the schedule. 10 games vs. Indy (6/4), 9 vs. Louisville (5/4), 5 with Toledo (2/3), 5 with Norfolk (2/3), 4 against Durham (4/0), 2 with Richmond (2/0) and one with Pawtucket. The Clippers and the Mud Hens are the two classic franchises have been in the same league for over 100 years and once again they are racing neck 'n neck for the pennant. This will be fun.
