Richmond, VA - The Columbus Clippers beat the Richmond Braves 3-1 Thursday at The Diamond. Darrell May pitched seven strong innings to lead the Clippers to their sixth win in their last seven games.
The Clippers scored a run in the first on a RBI double by Russ Johnson. They opened up a 2-0 lead in the third when Michael Vento chased a run home with a single. J.C. Boscan knocked in the Braves lone run in the bottom of the third with an RBI single. The Clippers added a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Andy Canizaro. The Braves did not have a runner past first after the fifth inning.
May allowed one run and six hits in seven innings to earn the win. Jason Anderson picked up a save. Adam Bernero took the loss. Boscan and John Barnes had two hits for Richmond. Johnson whacked a pair of doubles and Canizaro had two hits for the Clippers
