Lancaster Stormers News Release
The Lancaster Barnstormers and Clipper Magazine jointly announced today that the Barnstormers home will continue to be called "Clipper Magazine Stadium" through 2019, and perhaps beyond.
The current agreement was set to expire at the end of the 2014 season, but has now been extended by an additional five years with options for further extensions. Financial terms of the agreement were not announced.
"Our company is proud to continue our significant investment in such a critical community asset," noted Steve Zuckerman, CEO and one of the founders of Clipper Magazine. "We view it as a real positive to associate our brand with such a well-regarded, high profile facility that connotes top quality, family entertainment."
The initial naming rights deal was among the first major business commitments in 2003 that helped make the stadium, which opened in 2005, a reality.
"The extension of the naming rights agreement is a huge statement of confidence in the community, the team and this facility," noted Lancaster Barnstormers CEO Jon Danos. "As we enter our ninth season of baseball, it is incredibly rewarding to have the continued, long-term support of one of our strongest partners. Without Clipper Magazine and our other corporate partners, the Barnstormers would not be able to continue to provide affordable family entertainment to Lancaster."
Clipper Magazine, founded in Lancaster in 1983 has grown from a four page campus advertising publication to over 320 individual market editions in more than 20 states. In 2003, Clipper Magazine was acquired by Gannett, a McLean, VA-based leading news and informational company that publishes 82 daily newspapers including USA Today and operates 23 TV stations reaching 21 million households.
The Lancaster Barnstormers are entering their ninth season as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Home games are played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Please call 717.509.HITS (4487) or visit LancasterBarnstormers.com for more information.
