York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.): Saying the local minor league baseball team "has something for everyone" is not a cliché, when you consider at one point during the upcoming 2013 York Revolution season at Sovereign Bank Stadium, the ballpark will regularly go from baseball bingo on Tuesday to fireworks on Saturday with a Superhero appearance in-between.
The Revolution has released the bulk of its 2013 promotional schedule, as some old favorites return along with some exciting new ways for fans to make the most of their Revolution experience. The Revs will open the season at home on Thursday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. against the Bridgeport Bluefish, with a special ceremony unveiling the retired number of former Manager Andy Etchebarren, who brought the Revs their first two championships. This is just a sampling of the fun on-deck for 2013 - for the full game and promotional schedule; fans should visit the schedule page on YorkRevolution.com.
When it comes to fireworks, the fans have spoken and the inside the park shows have surged in popularity. The Revs have responded, and increased the number of on-field shows to six for 2013. (April 20, May 4, June 1, July 6, July 27 and August 31.) As always, fireworks will follow every Saturday home game (minus the 8/10 day game). Every Sunday will again feature the family activities beginning an hour before the game, the full-team autograph session and catch on the field. Post-game kids run the bases will follow.
And if your kid is watching too many movies or too much TV, bring them out to Sovereign Bank Stadium this season and at least they can meet their TV heroes in person after some vigorous exercise on our playground. 2013 will break a record for character appearances, as we feature:
Iron Man on Thursday, May 2 (May or may not actually be Robert Downey Jr. in the suit) Superman on Thursday, June 6 Captain America & Wonderwoman on Friday, July 5 Phineas & Ferb on Friday, July 12 Dora The Explorer & Go Diego Go! on Friday, July 26 SpongeBob and Patrick on Wednesday, July 31 (Camp Day, 11 a.m. game)
This season, we're on the road at Bridgeport on the 4 th of July but home for a "War of The Roses" weekend showdown against Lancaster starting the next day. July 5 will be "Armed Forces Night" featuring a game-worn camouflage jersey auction presented by BAE Systems. There will also be a camouflage hat giveaway at the gate courtesy of St. Onge. Following the game, we'll have the first ever laser show at Sovereign Bank Stadium!
As always, giveaways will be sprinkled in throughout the season. On Opening Night, fans can pick up their 2013 Magnet Schedule presented by Pizza Hut - featuring a pop out car magnet logo. A day later on April 19, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will get a Revolution collectible soccer ball courtesy of WellSpan Sports Medicine, on Soccer Night.
More exciting new giveaways for this season include a 3-D Revolution logo coin bank on Friday, May 17 presented by Members 1st Federal Credit Union, and a "back to the future" 2013 York White Roses cap on May 31, presented by OSS Health. The cap depicts what York's Atlantic League team may have worn on their heads had the franchise gone with a "modern" White Roses look! On Saturday, August 31, the PA Lottery will giveaway free scratch-off lottery tickets.
On May 3 and July 26, "Flat Screen Fridays" will be introduced at Sovereign Bank Stadium for the first time, where we'll give away a new HD TV each inning! More giveaways will be added to the promo schedule closer to the season, with an announcement of all giveaways coming at a later date.
Other popular staples of the Revolution Baseball experience that will return in 2013 include:
Bike Night on Saturday, May 18 Salute to Veterans on Thursday, May 23 presented by Military & Commercial Fasteners Corp. Cancer Survivors Night on Sunday, June 2 presented by Visiting Angels Boy Scout Night with on-field sleepover after the game on Friday, June 21 and Friday, August 9 Girl Scout Night with on-field sleepover after the game on Friday, July 12 Hispanic Heritage Night on Friday, July 26 York County Junior Girls Softball Night on Thursday, August 1 Stauffer's Family Fun Fest on the Brooks Robinson Plaza, Saturday, August 10, with post-game fireworks presented by Stauffer's Girl's Night Out and pink tote bag giveaway presented by Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 6 High School Spirit night presented by OSS Health on Saturday, September 7
Every Tuesday night, fans will again be able to play Shurfine Baseball Bingo. That coincides with the Silver Sluggers Club presented by WellSpan Sports Medicine, which is also returning for 2013: For fans 55 and older, membership includes tickets to every Tuesday home game, a Silver Sluggers visor, a membership card for discounts on food, and "seniors walk the bases" after every Tuesday game. (Not that we think everyone over 55 is a "senior," you can run the bases after the game if you want, no matter what age you are.) Membership is just $35 apiece!
