FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Clinton LumberKings finished a three-game sweep of the TinCaps with a 9-8 win Thursday at Parkview Field. Tommy Medica doubled twice but exited early with an apparent arm injury.

The LumberKings again jumped ahead in the opening half-inning. Kalian Sams and Jabari Blash each roped RBI singles and Sams scored when he stole third and came home when the throw was dropped.

Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth, the TinCaps took a brief lead when B.J. Guinn led off with a double, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Luis Domoromo. Jake Blackwood followed with a two-run homer to left to make it 6-5.

Clinton took the lead in the next half-inning. Sams hammered a two-run homer and Matt Browning later lifted a sacrifice fly to give the LumberKings an 8-6 advantage.

Cole Tyrell cut the deficit in half with a tape-measure home run leading off the fifth and Medica doubled home Domoromo in the sixth to tie the game at 8-8. Medica was injured diving back into second base on a pickoff play and immediately left the game.

In the ninth, Steven Baron and Blash smacked back-to-back doubles to put Clinton ahead, 9-8. Fort Wayne loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning, but LumberKings RHP Keli'i Zablan induced a 6-2-3 double play to end the game and secure his second save of the series.

LHP Jeff Ibarra (0-2) took the loss and Clinton RHP Jessie Nava (1-1) was the winning pitcher. The save was Zablan's second of the year.

Fort Wayne dipped to 23-30; Clinton upped its record to 17-38.

The TinCaps begin a three-game series against the Kane County Cougars (Class-A Kansas City Royals) Friday at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Adys Portillo (0-6) takes the ball against Cougars RHP Sugar Ray Marimon (3-3).
