Lakewood, NJ.- Tim Kennelly's bases loaded two out single in the last of the eighth gave Lakewood their first lead of the game and propelled the BlueClaws to a 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon in New Jersey. The win gives Lakewood a two-game weekend sweep of the Shorebirds, as the Birds finish their road trip with three straight losses following the four consecutive victories from Monday to Thursday.

The Shorebirds jumped on Lakewood starter Darren Byrd early with a pair of extra base hits in the top of the first. Leadoff man Matt Angle tripled to right field to begin the ballgame. Two batters later, Joe Nowicki picked up his 48th RBI of the season with his 26th double of the year and the Shorebirds led 1-0.

Shorebird starter Robert Neigebauer protected the lead with four and a third no hit innings to begin the game. In the fifth inning, however, the BlueClaws' Mike Durant doubled with one out. He scored a couple pitches later on Karl Bolt's RBI single to left field, and the game was tied at one. Neigebauer received a no decision despite tossing five mighty innings, allowing just one run on two hits.

A rain delay in the middle of the sixth delayed the proceedings for 37 minutes. Delmarva returns home Monday night to face Lake County at 7:05.
