Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Greensboro, NC - The Intimidators (8-3) extended their winning streak to six games with a come from behind 7-3 win over Greensboro at NewBridge Bank Park in a rain-shortened game that was called after seven and a half innings (heading into the bottom of the eighth) due to rain.
Kannapolis fell behind 1-0 after an inning of play but came back to take the lead in the third inning. John Curtis led off the frame with a solo home run to tie the score at one. It was Curtis' third of the year and second in as many nights.
Later in the third inning, Jim Gallagher drove in Dale Mollenhauer on a RBI single and Mark Fleisher plated Gallagher on a bloop single to centerfield for a 3-1 advantage.
Greensboro tied it at three in the fourth inning on a two-run home run from Hunter Mense off of Intimidators' starter Levi Maxwell but the offense had his back.
Mark Fleisher brought in two on a two-run double in the fifth frame to put Kannapolis back in front 5-3. Fleisher drove in Mollenhauer and Eduardo Escobar with his hit. Fleisher went 2-for-4 to extend his hit streak to 15 games which is the longest streak by an Intimidator this season.
Kannapolis went yard twice in the seventh inning to take the 7-3 lead. With two outs, Logan Johnson blasted his 12th of the season and Christian Marrero (5th of the year) went deep to follow for back-to-back jacks. Marrero hit three home runs in the four-game set in Greensboro.
Levi Maxwell (8-2) earned the complete game victory. He went all seven in the rain-shortened win. Maxwell gave up four hits and three runs while walking none and striking out six.
The Intimidators are back at home starting tomorrow night to open a six-game homestand. Kannapolis welcomes in Lexington for the first of two from Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Lake County finishes the homestand with four games including fireworks nights on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July. For tickets call 704-932-FANS or go online to intimidatorsbaseball.com.
