WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Richard Fitts struck out nine over 5.2 scoreless innings and Hudson Valley topped the BlueClaws 8-0 on Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Jersey Shore (46-77) has taken two of the first three in the six game series with Hudson Valley (67-55).
Fitts (3-0), who took a perfect game into the eighth inning in his last start, gave up just four hits to go along with his nine strikeouts, earning his third win.
Eduardo Torrealba's RBI single in the second inning opened the scoring and gave Hudson Valley a 1-0 lead.
That was the lone run allowed by Jersey Shore starter Kyle Glogoski (1-6), who went five innings and struck out nine.
Hudson Valley blew the game open with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, all charged to Carlos Francisco. Aaron Palensky singled home the first one to make it 2-0. Later in the inning, Trey Sweeney walked with the bases loaded to put the Renegades up 3-0.
Tyler Hardman followed with a two-run double off Keylan Killgore, though the runs were charged to Francisco.
Hudson Valley added three unearned runs off Jason Ruffcorn in the bottom of the eighth.
Jared Carr had a hit and stole his 15th base of the season for Jersey Shore.
The teams continue their series on Friday night at 7:05 pm.
